Chapter 7: Examinations, Marks Entry & Report Cards
This chapter covers scheduling periodic examinations, configuring grading scales, rapid marks entry for teachers, calculating GPA/percentiles, and generating printable student report cards.
1. Exam Setup & Date Sheet Management
Navigate to Academic & Students → Examinations → Scheduled Exams (index.php?page=school_exams).
Creating a New Examination Term
- Click + Schedule New Exam.
- Enter the Exam Term Name (e.g. Periodic Assessment 1, Half-Yearly Examination, Annual Board Mock).
- Select Academic Session and Target Classes.
- Set the Exam Start Date and End Date.
- Configure the Grading Scheme:
- CBSE 9-Point Scale: A1 (91-100), A2 (81-90), B1 (71-80), B2 (61-70), C1 (51-60), C2 (41-50), D (33-40), E (Failed).
- Percentage (%) & Marks Only.
- Letter Grades (A, B, C, D, F).
- Click Save Exam Term.
Building the Exam Date Sheet
For each scheduled subject:
- Assign Date of Exam, Time Slot (e.g.
09:00 AM - 12:00 PM), Max Theory Marks (e.g.80), Max Practical/Internal Marks (e.g.20), and Passing Marks (e.g.33). - Click Publish Date Sheet to notify students and parents.
2. Marks Entry Desk (Fast POS Roster)
Subject teachers can enter scores rapidly using the Marks Entry Desk (index.php?page=exam_marks):
- Select Exam Term, Class, Section, and Subject.
- Click Load Marks Sheet.
- The student roster appears in a fast tabular grid:
- Roll No., Student Name, Theory Marks Input, Practical/Viva Input, Total Score (Auto-calc), Grade (Auto-calc).
- Absent / Medical Exemption: Check the
ABbox if the student was absent for the exam.
- The system validates marks in real time (e.g. warns if entered score exceeds maximum marks).
- Click Submit & Lock Marks.
3. Printable Student Term Report Cards
Navigate to Academic & Students → Examinations → Report Cards List (index.php?page=report_cards):
Generating & Printing Report Cards:
- Select Academic Session, Exam Term, Class, and Section.
- The system calculates:
- Total Marks Obtained vs. Grand Maximum Marks.
- Percentage (%) and Overall Grade.
- Class Rank (1st, 2nd, 3rd position).
- Attendance Percentage for the term.
- Click View Report Card on any student row or click Batch Print All Report Cards (PDF).
Report Card Layout Standard:
- Header: School Crest Logo, School Name, CBSE/State Affiliation Number, School Address.
- Student Bio: Name, Admission No, Roll No, Class & Section, Father's Name, Mother's Name, DOB.
- Marks Matrix: Subject-wise Theory, Practical, Total Marks, Grade, and Subject Teacher Remarks.
- Co-Scholastic & Life Skills Assessment: Work Education, Art Education, Health & Physical Education, Discipline.
- Footer Signatures: Class Teacher Signature, Examination Controller, Principal Signature & School Seal.
