Chapter 6: Timetable & Faculty Scheduling
This chapter explains how to configure bell timings, period slots, assign subject teachers, build class timetables, and prevent double-booking or faculty scheduling conflicts.
1. Setting Up Periods & Bell Timings
Before creating class timetables:
- Navigate to Academic & Students → Timetable (
index.php?page=school_timetable). - Click Configure Period Slots.
- Define the standard institutional bell schedule:
- Period 1:
08:00 AM - 08:45 AM - Period 2:
08:45 AM - 09:30 AM - Period 3:
09:30 AM - 10:15 AM - Short Break / Recess:
10:15 AM - 10:35 AM(Marked as Break) - Period 4:
10:35 AM - 11:20 AM - Period 5:
11:20 AM - 12:05 PM - Lunch Break:
12:05 PM - 12:45 PM(Marked as Break) - Period 6:
12:45 PM - 01:30 PM - Period 7:
01:30 PM - 02:15 PM
- Click Save Period Configuration.
2. Generating Weekly Class Timetables
- Select Class and Section (e.g. Grade 10 - Section A).
- The interactive weekly matrix displays columns for Monday through Saturday and rows for each period slot.
- For each period slot:
- Select the Subject (e.g. Mathematics).
- Select the Faculty / Teacher (e.g. Dr. Rajesh Mehta).
- Select the Room / Lab (e.g. Math Lab / Room 302).
- Conflict Prevention Engine:
- If the selected teacher is already assigned to another class during the same period slot, the system flags a real-time warning:
Faculty Conflict: Dr. Rajesh Mehta is already assigned to Grade 9-B during Period 2.
- Click Save Timetable Grid.
3. Teacher Workload & Substitute Management
- Teacher Weekly Timetable View:
- Teachers can view their personal timetable on the Teacher Dashboard or by selecting their name in the Timetable module.
- Faculty Substitute Allocation:
- When a teacher is on approved leave, the Principal or Academic Coordinator can click Assign Substitute on the day's schedule to reallocate free periods to available faculty with one click.
