Chapter 7: IPD Ward Management & Visual Bed Matrix Grid

The Visual Bed Matrix Grid (ipd_bed_matrix.php) gives hospital administration, nursing supervisors, and admission desks a real-time, color-coded visual overview of all wards, rooms, and beds across the hospital.

1. Visual Bed Matrix Grid Layout

The bed matrix represents all hospital wards arranged logically by floor and category:

Color Indicators:

🟢 Green (Vacant / Ready): Cleaned, sanitized, and ready for immediate patient allocation.
🔴 Red (Occupied): Patient admitted. Displays patient name, UHID, admitting doctor, and admission date.
🟡 Yellow (Under Cleaning / Maintenance): Patient discharged, awaiting housekeeping sanitization before re-allotment.
🔵 Blue (Reserved / Planned Admission): Reserved for planned elective surgery or scheduled transfer.

2. One-Click Bed Allocation

To admit a patient directly from the Bed Matrix:

Click on any 🟢 Vacant Bed tile.
Select Allot Bed to Patient.
Search and select the patient by UHID or Mobile Number.
The system opens the IPD Admission Form pre-populated with the selected Ward and Bed number.

3. Ward & Bed Transfer (Shifting Workflow)

When an admitted patient is stepped down from ICU to General Ward or upgraded to Deluxe:

Click the patient's active bed tile and select Transfer / Shift Bed.
Select the Target Ward & Bed Number.
Enter transfer reason (e.g. Clinical condition stabilized, transferred to recovery ward).
Click Confirm Bed Transfer.
The system automatically recalculates the pro-rata room rent per day in the billing ledger without requiring manual accounting adjustments.
